Ghosts and Lanterns
An on-going photography series Lubee started at age 21, it features landscape documentary style shots of Nigeria, through the years 2016 to 2018. The Ghosts and Lanterns series is a photo story that started with the intention of capturing the daily-nightly lives of Nigerians.
Nigerians are known for being hustlers, their determination and drive is something you can feel merely walking by a market or a street. They are constantly pushing & striving. Greatly inspired by the Fela Kuti song ‘shuffering & shmiling’, Ghosts and Lanterns aims to explore the rigid dichotomy between human survival and hope.
We are GHOSTS because life will try to kill us until we forget how to live.
There are LANTERNS because no matter how dark the story, you can always find a glimmer of hope.
